Photographers: how much should an amateur charge for a shoot?

I'm currently in a photography 101 class using a Nikon N55 film camera.

For one of my assignments, I needed a model, so I advertised around asking for volunteers. I got an overwhelming amount of people who were interested in helping with the project, and a few who asked if they could get copies of the photos from the shoot.

Since I'm buying my own paper and film, and I'm spending hours in the darkroom printing them myself (it's not like I'm dropping them off at a photo center or something quick and convenient) what would a good price be to charge them for the photos? Since I'm not a professional, I don't know where to begin. Prices, anyone?

Added (1). Hmm, maybe I should've clarified a bit. I would give them a free copy of the photo I'm using for my assignment for them to take home, but what I'm wondering is if they request that I take additional photos for them to keep. Maybe after my assignment is over and they like how the photos look, they would want me to take more for them. Should I charge the cost of paper and film or is charging anything still a bad idea since I'm not a professional?

Added (2). Basically, it seems from what I've gathered is that these people are looking for some good, quality pictures of themselves to take home. I'd be willing to go beyond my class assignment to take extras for them, but as you all know, the cost of materials isn't exactly cheap.

What is the Canon equivalent to the Nikon N80?

I want to buy a Canon film camera since I have a Canon EOS Rebel T1i and want to share lenses between them.

During college I used the Nikon N80. I'd love to buy that one since I'm familiar with it but I think it would be easier to use the same lenses as my Canon.

What is the Canon equivalent to the Nikon N80 but would also allow me to use the same lenses as my Canon EOS Rebel T1i?

Where did you purchase your first DSLR Camera? Does it make a difference where you buy it?

I'm looking into purchasing my first D-SLR Camera (the Nikon D1500 with standard 18-55mm lens) now that I've decided it would be a good fit for me style-wise, functionality/weight, and my personal needs.

I have one problem. I've visited various stores to try it out and to find the best deal (Tall's Cameras, Best Buy, Fry's Electronics, Sears, etc.) and it seems the store demo varies on clarity. I thought maybe it might be a dirty lens but now I'm wondering if it actually matters where you buy it from as I was also considering purchasing it from eBay as a manufacturer refurbished condition because it's So CHEAP compared to in store and eBay offers great kit deals that come with extra lenses.

I don't want to have any regrets trying to save a couple hundred dollars, but would prefer to get the best deal I can.

Does it actually matter where you purchase a camera from? Where did you purchase your first camera from? Any advice and/or experiences are appreciated.

Nikon 5100 Photography Tips?

I have bought Nikon 5100 with its default lens 18-55 mm lens. I want to take photo with this lens coz i don't have other lens. I want to take pic such a way in auto mode in lens (button) where i need to blurr background and focused subject. Please help me with the settings and other necessary tips to take pic of the above spec's. Thanks I knew it could be by using some higher lens 55-200 telephoto but i don't have it.

Added (1). Thanks for answer but here please don't misunderstnad with AUTO. Imeant to say. There's a small switch on the lens A or M. I don't want to adjust the lens manually. I wanted to put it in A mode (ie AUTO) and set from camera to apeture mode but can't blurr properly the background. Smebdy taught me to put in M mode and focus the subject and can blurr the background. It seems lots of prac. For me.

Problems with 35mm Nikon N75?

I brought it out to use tonight and put a fresh roll of film in it. Problem is the first photo I tried to take, the film completely rewound back into the canister. Any ideas as to why this happened? I really like this camera and would like to use it again.

Fitting A Canon Lens on Nikon?

I have a fisheye lens for an automatic Canon film camera. I was wondering if this could fit on a Nikon Digital SLR Camera. I don't want to damage the camera or lens in the process.
