It has something to do with the shutter staying open for a long time or something.
Canon 17-40mm focus hunting and noise issue?
My Canon 17-40mm L lens is having a horrible time of focus hunting and often not finding or missing focus entirely. The noise also seems way off and not quiet like USM usually is. I'm using a Canon 5D mark II and all the other lenses I have tried work just fine. There's plenty of light and contrast for the camera to focus on. Has anyone had this problem and is there a way to fix it?

Spotted this in a thrift shop. I didn't have time to ask to see it so I just took a picture and decided to look it up later. I own several SLRs and a TLR but I'd like to give Nikon a try.

Anything comparable to the Canon 70D (Priced at $1100) would be phenomenal. If there's other cameras above this price range that you think are worth taking a look at, let me know.

Added (1). Thank you for your answers. I will save up my money and buy a high end used/refurbished camera. Panasonic GH4 looks amazing, definitely worth it I believe.
