Good sports lens for nikon d800?

I'm a beginner photographer (so far very little dslr experience, only point and shoot) and I'm a photographer for my school newspaper. My dad is letting me borrow his nikon d800 for taking pictures and I'll be shooting a lot of sports so I was wondering what some good quality yet inexpensive lenses would work for this type of photography. He already has a Nikon 50mm 1.4g and a Tamron sp 90mm f/2.8. What other lenses would you recommend for good basic shooting?

Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 vs Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8?

Which would you choose for a Nikon FX body such as D700 or D800

Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 FX AF-S G ED
or
Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 VC USD Lens

Some professionals advocate the Tamron. Budget seems to dictate Tamron and DXO also seems to favour the Tamron but which IN YOUR OPINION is actually the more preferable lens?

I want to buy a second camera for when the DSLR is inappropriate?

So, I use a Nikon D4 which I love. But, recently while I was out and about… Someone tried to steal it. Of course, nothing happened… But, this has scared me a bit. I was in London.

I'm not going to stop using my D4… That would defeat the purpose of buying it. But, I do want a camera that I can use when I'm walking about and just blend in to the crowd… Instead of walking about with the camera equivalent of a machine gun.

I was thinking to go for either one of the Fuji x100t/s or the xt-1 (probably with the 18 or 27mm lens).

The main criteria are user-friendliness, speed, image quality and build quality.
Any ideas? Any other suggestions?

feel free to check out some of my more recent "work". https://500px.com/...rmapmukesh

Added (1). in response to fhotoace… User friendly was probably the wrong term… Basically, it needs to be slr like in terms of controls (individual customisable controls instead of one button for everything.)

Any Nikon SLRs that actuall have room for your fingers?

Looking to upgrade my D90 but the D7100 has LESS room between the grip and the lens. Ditto the new D750. The old D300s woulda been perfect but had the stupid buttons in the way. I need room for my big fingers and I don't want to feel the ends of them touching anything. Seems like Nikon is backsliding here.

How to use AE-L/AF-L button?

I have recently bought a Nikon D 800 Camera I also own a Nikon D5100 Camera. On my D5100 I can point the camera at a light, exposure will adjust, I can press the autoexposure lock button and the camera will lock the exposure I can move the camera and point at anything and the exposure will stay locked so long as I hold the button. On the D800 this does not work. I have pressed and held the button and simultaneously half held the shutter button and the exposure will not lock I've looked online I've checked the settings I can't figure this out. Can anyone tell me how to properly use the autoexposure lock button on a Nikon D 800 Camera?

Should I upgrade my Nikon to a newer model?

I'm on my second year of doing portrait photography and I'm in need of either updated gear or additions to what I currently have. My camera body is a Nikon D100. I have a 18-55mm, 55-200mm, and a 50mm f1.8 in my bag as well as a sb-50dx speedlight. As you know my camera body is an older model with only 6mp. I don't really have any problems with it, but I have noticed in RAW, after taking 2 quick snaps there's a shutter lag on the 3rd (I hope that makes sense.) I'm debating on investing in the nikon d800 or adding to my gear. I feel I'm not getting the sharpness I would like to achieve. In your experienced opinion, would the switch be worth the money? Would I see enough improvement in my photography? Do you have another suggestion on a different upgrade that isn't so costly, but gives better resu

Should I upgrade my camera? - 1

I'm currently on my second year using a Nikon D100, I'm defiantly looking to improve on my photography. I'm looking for advice to whether I should upgrade my camera to the Nikon D800 or invest more in speed lights or studio lights? I know the D800 is well more up to date rather than the d100 but I want to make the right decision here and will upgrading make a hugh difference on my images?
