How to take self portraits with Nikon D3000?

I recently got a nikon D3000, which is a great camera but is very difficult to take self portraits with. Even if I manage to get it focused properly, I can never angle it or myself quite right. Any tips?

I always wonder if i could be able to do so or not? It's a lithium ion battery and i need the battery to be fully charged and at the same time it's like 70% charged.

How to take a SIMPLE picture with a nikon D50?

I just got this camera from my dad and I have NO IDEA HOW TO USE IT. Searching online doesn't help me at all! Everything I find online is so specific, and I don't understand ANY of the camera lingo. It's So frustrating! I just want to take simple pictures! Pictures outside, pictures of my dogs, pictures of my friends! JUST SIMPLE PICTURES! Please! I press the button by the on/off switch, but nothing happens. Does that means the settings are off, or does that mean the camera is broken?

I need a little help here, I've been pursuing photography as a hobby and got a Canon Powershot SX20 IS because I didn't want to spend a lot of money if it turned out I wasn't very good.

If I'm in the sports mode on a Nikon D50 and it is shooting slow, what's wrong?

I'm shooting with a Nikon D50 and in the past when in Auto mode and I put it on the sports icon it used to shoot fast pictures and they would be crisp. Now when I shoot pictures in that setting it is blurry if the subject is moving.
