What settings should I use for fashion photography with a Nikon D3000?
I have the 18-55mm lens. I wanted to start a fashion blog and was wondering what settings i should use for my pictures to have a professional looking finish.

What would be a good entry level dslr for a student on a budget?
I'm beginning an arts program at college in the fall and will have few photography classes, I have always enjoyed photography as a hobby as well, but only owned cheap P&S cameras and played around with friend's digital slrs.
I only have around $400 to spend on it, so I'm looking at used entry-level digital slrs, I need a versatile camera that can fit my class needs, and one that can grow with me as I explore photography more seriously as a hobby. (Until I can afford to upgrade in a few years)
I have been looking at used Nikons online, since I've used and liked the brand before, the D40x with a basic lense (18-55) seems like it could be a good fit
What camera's would you recommend for someone with my budget and needs?
Would a D40x be the best choice? Or because of its age will it be too far behind in technology etc?
I only have experience with Nikon, but would another brand give me more "bang for my buck"?
Any opinions or recommendations are really appreciated!

Can we use a macro lens as a telephoto lens? - 1
I'm really enthusiastic about bird and wild life photography but it will need a telephoto lens and telephoto lenses are very expensive, so i came to know about a lens SIGMA 70-300MM F4-5.6 DG MACRO LENS, Tamron Lens AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD, but those are macro lens so can we use macro as telephoto and how will be the result? When I take pictures with this camera, instead of looking through the viewfinder, is it possible to get the look on your screen?

I'm looking to buy a Nikon D7000 16.2MP DSLR Camera with AF-S DX 18-105mm VR Lens Kit and AF-S VR Zoom 70-300mm Zoom Lens.
I'm new to Dslr cameras. Is this a good camera? I will take mostly pictures of my family and friends and some landscape will these two lens help me to take good pictures.
Also let me know if it is good camera to invest.

Amateur Photographer trying to fool me?
Some Amateur Photographer trying to fool me thinking I'm stupid. She says "Buy the smallest lens for your DSLR and Nikon is only good for indoor"
Smallest lens? Seriously?
I have a Nikon D5000 I only got the kit lens, is she just trying to trick me? (She wants to be professional)
What's your opinion on this 'Photographer' and what should I really use?
