Is it better to get nikon d5100 with Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR
or
a cheaper camera with a better lens

Nikon D3100 help filming? Everything fine but?
I'm really happy with the pictures it takes, but filming?
it can film, very well. But only for like 10 - 30 seconds at a time?
its nothing to do with memory (even though i seriously need a bigger SD card),
after filming a 10 second video, it then lets me film another - so it can't be memory right?
i'm thinking it has something to do with the lens? The focus? When it's out of focus will it stop filming?
but the camera is perfectly still when i film, so it can't move to unfocus.
please help D: i'd really like to be able to film or longer? Sorry about all the question marks.

Any tutorials on how to get good footage of people at the skatepark?

I just bought a 70-300mm to go on my nikon d3100 does it do nice bokeh?
I wanted this lens for some portraits and taking pics of the kids doing tricks on there scooters and such. I haven't had the chance to try it so i was wondering what you experienced hobbiest or photographers think of this lens. Was it an ideal lens for everyday photography? I have a 50mm 1.8 which i love but there's no auto f plus the kit lens.

I have been looking for a photo gear for quite some time now(close to 2 yrs!) and lately decided to invest in one as I 'really' need it. Below are two of my favourite shortlisted products. Please have a look, and tell me which one "out of these two" you recommend and why.
From utilitarian perspective, here is the list of things that the bag is supposed to carry:

2. Nikkor 35mm 1.8 with hood
3. Nikkor 18-55mm kit
4. Other stuff#1: SDCard/LensPen/hood/water bottle/chocolate bars.
Occasionally needs to carry while travelling for the weekends:
4. Macbook Pro 13'
5. Pair of jeans n a tee
6. Pair of shades in a hard case
7. Other stuff#2: *whatever*
PICK ONE:

I'm planning to buy a new camera. I had a compact Fufifilm but i don't like it… I have many 35mm SLR cameras like Cannon 3000N, Nikon F (late '60) and Zenit 11.So i want a digital SLR.
I have 2 options for the kit lens: AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200mm VR or should I choose AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200mm VR.
I just want to know the equivalent zoom, field of view for both of them and if someone knows the 35mm equivalent. And wich one is better, and should I choose.
Also, my last question: The lens from my Cannon EOS 3000N is compatible with Cannon D-SLR's or vice-versa?

How to change the settings on my Nikon D3100 so I can shoot in Black and White?
I used to be able to shoot in black and white, but now when I go to the shooting menu and select "Set Picture Control" a pop up comes up that says "This option is not available with current settings". How can I make it possible to shoot in black and white again?
