I just bought a 70-300mm to go on my nikon d3100 does it do nice bokeh?
I wanted this lens for some portraits and taking pics of the kids doing tricks on there scooters and such. I haven't had the chance to try it so i was wondering what you experienced hobbiest or photographers think of this lens. Was it an ideal lens for everyday photography? I have a 50mm 1.8 which i love but there's no auto f plus the kit lens.
Depends on which camera you have. If you have a DX sensor your 70 - 300 is more like 105 - 400mm
but the f/ stop on that lens is 4.5-5.6, so it will not be as easy to get nice bokeh like your f/1.8.
Also depends on the shape of Bokeh you want. The less blades the aperture has the more square you get. You can also create your own bokeh shapes by cutting out shapes in paper and placing it over the lens. You can also buy kits that do the same thing… I used the 70-300 for a bit, but I was not impressed with the 4.5-5.6 f/stop, so i opted for the more expensive 70-200 f/2.8
- I just bought a Nikon FM2n just the body, need a lens but am new with cameras?
- Is it better to buy Nikon 18-200mm and Nikon 70-300mm or just Nikon 28-300mm?
- What lens has a nice bokeh and zoom? (for nikon d5k)?
- Will using a memory card bought in Europe work for Nikon D3100 bought in USA?
- What settings help in getting a good bokeh along with a nice foreground image?
