Why won't my Nikon D3100 autofocus anymore?
I got my camera about 3 weeks ago. It was new and it was working fine until about a week ago while i was on vacation. I used the lens 18-55 (which was the one that it came with). It used to autofocus perfectly but now it won't. When I go take a picture it takes the pic within 1 second like just one click and it takes the pic. It doesn't focus, nothing. The only way I can get the pics to focus is if I twist the front part of the lens. AND yes I read the manual and YES I know that it will focus with if you press halfway on the shutter button. Mine still doesn't work even if i press halfway. Can anyone help?
Added (1). Uh maybe i'm not sure. As you can proabably tell i'm not really good with this camera. Do you know how to fix it if i did? Cause i guess i was playing around with the camera and maybe changed something i wasn't supposed too.
Added (2). @AWboater Thank you So MUCHHHH! Haha i feel so stupid for not knowing that haha thanks again

How to take good photographs of the stars (I'm a beginner)?
I have a Nikon D3100, and just the kit lens (18-55mm, and I think the lowest f is 5.6).
I really want to try taking photos of the stars, and I'm going to try tonight, but I was just wondering if anyone had some helpful tips for me?

I'm getting my first pro ish camera. I already have a d3100 but want something better since I'm starting to do weddings and stuff like that.

Which lens to get for trip to Alaska?
I have a Nikon D5000 and bought a Nikon 50-300mm for my trip to Alaska. I have an 18-55, but wanting a wide angle lens. I'm thinking about renting a Tamron 10-24. I only want to take 2 lenses on my trip, but not sure which 2. With the wide angle only reaching 24, would that be a problem not having the 25-49mm? Also how different are the 18-55 and 10-24? I'm leaving on Aug 28th, so need help!

My Nikkor 18-55mm lens won't zoom past 50mm
I recently purchased (last month) a Nikon D5100 and an 18-55mm lens and a 55-200mm lens, however, the 18-55mm just does not zoom past about 50mm! This has just happened today when I came to use it again! I haven't bashed it or dropped it and its kept in its protective bag when i'm not using it. It usually goes to 55mm no problem, just this morning I came to use it and its not zooming to 55mm! I have just contacted the company i bought it off, do i send it back to them or back to nikon for a repair!
can anyone help me and/or has anyone else had this problem?

Problem with SanDisk SDHC card and Nikon D5100?
I was using my Nikon D5100 one night at a dinner and all of a sudden my camera froze and then said I had a damaged memory card out of nowhere. I didn't do anything to it and it just said that it was damaged all of a sudden when nothing even happened to it. Now I plugged it into my computer to see if the memory card still has the pictures and the memory card doesn't even show up. My computer doesn't even recognize it. I don't know what brought this on or anything but I have pictures and videos that I really don't want to lose. I downloaded a photo recovery program and that didn't even recognize the card being in my computer! The card won't even show up. Is there any hope to saving my photos? Is there a person I could take it to? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I want to buy a new camera. I recently sold my Nikon D3000 which I really loved. Some of the things that I loved about it where the manual zoom and focus. I don't really want anything too bulky but I would really love a detachable lens. I have no idea where to look or what brand to buy as my last camera was a gift. I'm definitely not a professional photographer but I'm going to be doing some senior portraits this coming year. Any suggestions?

Why would I need to buy a nikon d7000 over a sony a57?
I'm trying to decide between two cameras and what I want to know is why would I need to buy the NIKON d7000 over the Sony a57? I'm not a pro, I just like to take really great shots in aperture priority mode.
