Ny Comic Con: Can I bring a DSLR?
I read on the NYCC site that you're welcome to take photographs but they weren't clear on if you'd need a press pass or anything for higher end cameras. It's nothing crazy, just a Nikon D3100, but I don't want to bring it all the way there if I can't bring it in.

Nikon D40 Bringing it back to life?
I have a Nikon D40 that the battery died some time ago. I just purchased a new battery from ebay thinking that this would fix the problem. However, after carefully charging it nothing happens. It is as dead as a door nail. Or is it?
Am I not doing something right? I'm wondering if the camera itself went out and if it did what do I need to bring it back to life and in working condition?

How to improvise professional lighting in photography?
I currently have a Nikon D90, I don't have any professional gear and probably won't be getting some anytime soon. A friend of mine wants me to take the pictures for her catalog. She makes necklaces and bracelets. I might photograph them on models or with a white background (open to suggestions). The question is how can i improvise pro lighting?

Can we share flash on cameras of different manufacturers?
I'm researching on a Yongnuo YN565EX E-TTL flash. I read someone said it can be controlled by either a Nikon D90 and a Canon 60D. Does it mean it can be triggered wirelessly off camera by both cameras? BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, does it work mounted on the hot shoe for both cameras? Or the built for Canon will only work on a Canon hot shoe and built for Nikon works on a Nikon hot shoe?

What would be the set standards for a first time customer photoshoot? I'm not pro and are currently shooting with an Nikon D3200, speedlight, 50mm 1.4 prime lens and a film minolta srt 101, my serious question would be where do I take my client? Its a hip hop themed photoshoot as he's a artist…

I have the nikon D5000
I set the aperture to the lowest which is 4 on the A on the dial. But shouldn't the aperture go lower?
When i switch back to M "manual" on the dial and take pictures by aperture will change like to 5.6 or whatever. I don't like that because what if i want the aperture at 2.6 and the shutter speed at 1/1600
This is really bugging me! I'm on manual mode, yet i still can't completely manually take photos.

Suggestions for a DSLR for detective work?
I'm a detective and am looking to buy a better camera than my department has. I need to stay under $1000 (Hey, I'm a cop.) I'm looking at the Nikon D5100 because I like the swivel screen (often have some really odd angles) and at its cost I can afford a macro lens and speed light. Any suggestions would be great. I'd love the D7000 but that is just too far out of budget. I already own a Canon XT. Just looking to upgrade.

Black chips INSIDE my dropped lens! How to fix it?
I accidentally dropped my Nikon D80 with lens on (Nikkor 18-135mm), it dropped from my desk and landed on the floor (on the camera body with the lens facing upward), no chips or visible damage on the outside at all. But when I look inside my lens, I see 3-4 shutter-shaped (or shark fins shape) black pieces inside, they are whole pieces, unbroken, like the shutter loosened or something! I can still turn on my camera, but it'll only keep trying to focus, the shutter won't close, I can't take any pictures with it.
Can I take apart my lens and put the pieces back into place? I looked all over the internet for solutions but I haven't found anything useful yet. Best if I can fix it myself, I really can't afford to have pros repair it or get a new one.
Any help would be MUCH appreciated, thanks in advance!
Added (1). I tested the camera again just now--there are still loosed blades inside the lens--but it's working, I can take pictures with it just fine!
