Is this 85mm nikon lense worth it?

I want to know if its worth it to buy a Rokinon 85mm F1.4 Aspherical Lens Manual for $220. I went to craigslist and called up the guy and went there to test it out. It was great, he helped me understand how to use it. I took some pictures. He showed me how much it was on ebay for brand new ones. The one he had was like new. He was selling it because he's investing in Audio music.

I have a Nikon D7000 and i took it with me to use it on my camera.
The question i have is it worth it and if I should get the auto manual one instead. I don't know other nikon 85mm and how much its worth.

please give me some advice and if you know other nikon 85mm 1.4 auto manuals let me know too. I want to know which one is best choice. And if $220 is worth it.

Plus I went to Nikon.com and looked it up, to see a price difference but I can't find much about them in the website.

Close focusing on DSLR's?

This is gonna sound a little complicated but once you'll get it it's easy to understand. It's about close focusing. Read slowly lol

So I got the lens 18-105 VR for my Nikon D5100. I've realized one thing, it doesn't focus close as the 18-55.

So, on Nikon's website it says that the 18-105 focuses as close "to 1.48 feet." I measured at 18mm how close I can get to focus and I was in focus 12 inches away. (From the tip of the lens) (And I also measured at 105mm and I was 10 inches away!)

>>>>>>How do they get the number "1.48 feet"?<<<<<<<

I'm really considering the 35mm prime lens and it says it focuses 1 foot away. (same with 18-55, it says 1 foot) But what is it ACTUALLY gonna be?!

What does it mean when a camera is being sold as body only?

I'm looking to buy a camera as a gift. I will likely go with a used camera. Someone is selling a Nikon D7000 listed as "body only." What does this mean and does it make the value of the camera go down?
Also, what are some other things I should know about used cameras that may depreciate their value or increase it?

I'm not very familiar with the camera market so please use as simple terms as possible.

Using SLR to focus subject and background both?

I recently shifted from point and Shoot camera (Canon A720) to Nikon D3000. I'm still learning to use it… But one difference that quickly noticed is that when using Auto mode, If i take a picture of a person with some scenic background, e.g. Mountains or flowers etc, it keep the person in sharp focus but blur the background… IT completely spoils the picture.Am i supposed to use a different setting to keep both person/subject as well as background both in focus?

Looking for an amateur level flash for Nikon D3000?

Wondering if any of you photographers could help me…

I'm looking for a flash for my Nikon D3000 dslr camera. I was really looking into the Nikon Speedlight 600; however, I believe Nikon has archived the item (it's available on ebay and sites of that sort but it's about double the price it was original being sold for). Based on your experiences with flashes, what's the next best flash I can get? I'm looking for a TTL flash (I heard that's the best one to start off with) that's not ridiculously expensive (I'm really looking to spend about 300, 350 $ max). I'm not a professional-grade photographer, so I"m really just looking for a nice flash to begin with. Any suggestions would be great!

Camera for taking notes at school?

I'm in college and I have pretty bad eye sight so I can't read half the board even when sitting in the front. I was thinking about buying a small video camera or digital camera or maybe even a new phone to zoom in and take video and pictures.

I would like to be able to record a lecture without anybody really noticing. I also want to be able to zoom in and still have a clear picture. Also a device that records video and also lets you take a picture while recording would be really nice.

Right now I'm using an ipod touch. It can't zoom without blurring and most of the pictures it takes are blurred without zooming. (I usually take pictures of a projector screen or whiteboard)

Iv been wanting to invest in a dslr nikon d5100, but I do not think that would be practical due to its size. What do you guys think, also what other devices could I use?

Added (1). I do wear glasses they are still not good enough.
