Any ideas for what to put on my Christmas list?
I'm bored so I'm making my Christmas list. I can't think of what to put on it. I love photography. I have a Nikon D5100 camera already and an old polaroid camera from the 70s. I have the iPhone 5 so I don't need a new phone. I love makeup (any good products sold at sephora?) and definitely clothing from Pacsun mainly. I like the California kind of look so any stores you know of like that would help. So any other ideas?

I'm interested in buying a Nikon D5100. The Nikon D5100 is normally $580, but for $760 you also get a "Af-S Dx Vr 55-200mm F/4-5.6g" lens with it. How useful is this lens? For $580 you get the standard 18-55mm lens. Is there really such a difference between these two lenses that it is worth spending nearly 200 dollars more to get the second one?
For information, I'm a beginner photographer but am learning and becoming more and more experienced. I like taking a variety of photos; outdoors, portraits, macro, etc.
What types of pictures will the second lens allow me to take that the first, basic one won't? I'm also considering saving for a good macro lens. Is it more useful to not buy the second lens, buy the $580 camera, and use the saved money for a macro lens?
Thank you.
Added (1). The second lens is $300 dollars by itself. By getting the combined package, I save over $100.Is it useful to therefore buy the package, and perhaps save the lens until I get more experienced? I'm only 18 and don't have thousands of dollars to spend though, and so want to only buy quite useful lenses that can be used often.

Photography advice pretty please?
I was wondering if there's a way I can make the aperture more visible and effective on my camera, because whenever I actually try to get a decent aperture effect it never shows as much as other times. I have a Nikon D3000… Thank you

I was looking for a macro lens as a gift but do not know much about cameras. This person likes insects, macros of pets, instruments, seeds and flowers. The camera is a Nikon D7000. Was looking at the Nikon AF-S Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED Lens, but not sure if it will get close enough etc.

Which camera to buy: Nikon D5100 / Nikon D3200 / Canon EOS 600D?
I'm trying to decide which camera to buy and have narrowed it down to these three. All three seem to get good reviews and are around the same price range, causing me difficulty in deciding.
I'm not an experienced photographer yet, but am motivated to become one. I want a camera that I will find useful even when I become more experienced and I want one that will provide great pictures without the need of heaps of editing. I do a range of photography; outdoors, portaits, macro, etc. And thus also want a camera that perform well in a range of areas.
Could someone give me advice on which camera to buy?
If there's another camera that is very good and around the 700 dollar price range, suggest it as well!

How well will the Nikon D5100 w/ 15-88 mm lens shoot sports at night?
I cover high school football for a small town newspaper and need to purchase a camera that can capture movement at night with minimal blurriness. I've heard good things about the Nikon D5100 w/ a 15-88 mm, but I've been unable to find any information on how well it shoots motion under artificial lighting.
I'm very much an amateur when it comes to photography and need all the help I can get.

What type of equipment will I need for a theater/stage production shoot?
My friend owns a business, where professional singers/actors will come to different venues (like for weddings, birthdays, etc… ) and sing different songs from famous Broadway shows.
She has asked me to take some photos of the performers during the event, but I'm not quite sure what equipment I will need.
I normally do portrait photography and all I have is a Nikon D40 (ISO 200-1600) with a 55-200mm lens.
Will I need to rent a lens with a fast shutter speed and a camera with a high ISO? I'm not sure of the lighting, but don't imagine I can use a flash… But if I could, what should I look in to?
I've never shot stage productions before, and I'm not sure what to look for. I'm just doing this as a favor for a friend.

Some of my camera buttons stopped working?
My camera's a Nikon D5100 and I got a problem. The up and down button just stopped working all of a sudden and the info button is too hard to press. How do I fix it?

Is a nikkor 50mm 1.8g a good lens for my nikon d3200?
Just bought my new nikon d3200 for my birthday and now i'm planning to buy a prime lens namely a nikkor 50mm 1.8g or 35mm 1.8g. Now i'm quite sure w/ the 50mm 1.8g but just want to really close my choosing, is it really preferable over the nikkor 35mm 1.8g?

Will this lens fit my Nikon D5100 camera?
Ok it may seem a simple question but I'm quite new to photography with these cameras so I thought I'd ask.
I bought a Nikon D5100 a few months ago with the 18-55mm DX lens, (has 52mm thread) and was just wondering whether this lens would also fit my camera;
http://www.amazon.co.uk/...000O161X0/
(Nikon 55-200mm VR DX lens)
I'm asking because it was my birthday yesterday and I feel that with some of the money I have I could buy this lens to get more experience and have some more fun with my photography.
I think it fits but I'm not sure because where it says what it's compatible with it doesn't say D5100 so I'm not sure whether it would fit.
So if anyone could help me that would be great, thank you.
