Contrast detection vs phase detection for movies?

I'm looking at buying a DSLR camera, and I'm mostly looking at the Nikon D5100 and the Canon EOS 650D (or Canon Rebel T4i in USA). I will mostly be using it for movies, but also for photos as well. I see that the Nikon camera has contrast detection, whereas the Canon camera has phase detection. I have heard that phase detection is better, but I really don't know much about cameras yet.

Could someone please explain the difference between contrast detection and phase detection for movies, and which one would be better, to someone who is an amateur with cameras?

Does changing the lens of a camera allow me to take higher resolution video?

I'm looking to buy a 12.3 megapixel Nikon D5000 dslr. The problem is it only shoots 720p video. I was wondering if I buy another lens if it might allow me to shoot higher resolution video.

How to fix black border issue when I take photos?

I'm using a Nikon D5100 with 50mm f1.8 lens. The photos I take suddenly have this black border on the top side of all my photos. Also, this happens only every other time I take a picture.

Added (1). ---
I'm also shooting with JPEG Fine settings. The black border on top of my photos takes up about a fourth of the picture.

Nikon Camera Lens not attaching to Body?

My Nikon D60 lens is not attaching to the body. It makes a clicking noise then pops out and just falls off. When I attempt to hold it in place, even if I attempt to take a picture the camera will forcfully take it off. Can someone tell me how I can fix it? Is it the lense or the body of the camera itself?

How to get a wider aperture on Nikon D3100?

I have a nikon d3100, with a nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 lens on it, and I can only figure out how to get to a max of f5.6 for the aperture, but the lens website says its possible to get a 3.5, I've done it in the past but I can't remember how and I can't figure it out. Neither aperture settings or shutter settings or manual lets me, any help?

Canon 60D good for Live concert shooting?

So I've been thinking about upgrading from a better camera than I have now which is the Nikon d3100. My photography is focused mostly on live band performances and I was looking for a camera that was also good with video. I've been considering purchasing the nikon d5100 also. Any opinions? Is the 60d going to be good for low light situations?
