External Flash for a Homecoming Dance?
I was asked to shoot a high school homecoming in mid October. I know the venue will be poorly lit so I would need to use an external flash, correct? I shoot with a Nikon D3100, so I'm thinking high ISO, manual, but unsure about the lighting issue… Help?

Areas for improvement on my photography skills?
I'm a teenager from Singapore and i'm starting to take photos more and more often as it really captures memories that may not be remembered as time pass by. I recently got a Nikon D3100 kit, 18-55mm. And that is the only lens i have. So here are the photos I have taken, it may not be good but I'm still learning. Would love to know where and how can i improve as photography is really my hobby and i would love to learn more about it. You all may want to follow me on instagram and my instagram name is tanzhengyuan Here are some of my photos, feel free to tell me where can I improve on as I'm still new and learning.
*Some of the photos are taken with my iPhone 5, I don't use Photoshop or other software on my computer. The only editing software I use are snapseed, afterlight and vscocam on the apple store of my iPhone.*

Camera DSLR Advice for semi-starter. Nikon or Canon?
Camera DSLR Advice for semi-starter… Nikon or Canon?
Hello everyone!
Quick intro. I'm about to buy my first DSLR camera, keep in mind that my aunt is a photographer and I have messed with her equipment lots of times. I want to buy something of my own though and my budget is not that big, also I would be able to access my aunts NIKON lens.
I think my choices vary from the NIKON D90, D3200 or Canon 600D.
What would be a better investment?
Added (1). I forgot to mention… I could buy canon lenses or other lenses too, it would just be available to use nikon lenses for free.
Any other camers?

I'm looking for a DSLR camera. I would like it to be under $500. Do you know of any?
I have already looked at the nikon d3100 and I don't like the picture quality. I'm leaning towards the canon eos rebel t3 because of the picture quality and price. I would mostly be taking pictures of the beach and of landscapes and also up close nature like flowers and plants. If you have any recommendations or suggestions I would appreciate it very much, thank you.

Little problem with my Nikon D3100? - 1
The little flap that covers the USB port doesn't close anymore. If you click the link above you can see it. If I try to jam it in there it just pops back out. I heard that rubber expands in heat so I was wondering if that was the problem. Has anyone had this problem or does anyone know how to fix it? I thought about cutting it a little but I want to sell this camera when I upgrade.

Hi guys so a couple of days ago a friend borrowed my camera that i have only had for about a year and dropped it. The problem is that now it doesn't auto focus when you go to take the picture the lens keeps going in and out of focus and just won't take at all unless i press the key lock button but even then the photos are out of focus and i'm unsure what to do as i do not have a lot of money to buy a new one or go to a specialist shop and i'm in my final year of a level photography so i need to fix it as soon as possible. If you guys know how to fix this or have any suggestions it would be much appreciated thank you!
