How to get a 'soft', dreamy effect in photographs?
i have a nikon d5000, but even when i change the settings, my photos don't come out 'soft' enough like these examples. They just come out like the average photo. Is there some trick?

A Nikon/Canon DSLR or a Sony SLT for photo and video use?
I haven't used a DSLR before, but since I'm a fast learner and since I need a camera that is versatile enough to capture excellent photos as well as record sharp video, I'm considering investing in one. I have heard suggestions on purchasing the Nikon D5100, as well as a Sony SLT. What's the difference between DSLRs and SLTs?

About 4 years ago I finally got into digital photography, and was able to use Photoshop in the local Camera Club. However, since then I have moved to another town where there's no camera club, but have downloaded Gimp instead. Unfortunately, the last 4 years have been a bit of a nightmare so that I have spent more time in hospital than I have outside and have had 7 operations. The outcome is that when I started reading a book on Gimp that I bought, it started off by saying they assumed that the user knew how to import images to Gimp from a file. But it's been so long that I can't remember how to do that. If it's any help, my camera is a Nikon D5100 so that I can download images directly from the camera, or I could use HP Photosmart, but for the life of me I can't remember how to get an image into Gimp (or Photoshop for that matter). Can anybody help?

Is there a panagor lens for NikonDSLR?
Nikon D90 DSLR camera. I had a Panagor lens that went between the camera body and the basic lens for my Olympus slr camera used for close-up photography… Worked beautifully. Would like this type of lens for Nikon D90 DSLR camera.

I'm buying my first dslr, but I can't decide on the brand or class of the camera.
Canon, nikon or pentax? I'm considering buying few extra lenses too.
Canon 650d (or 60d) vs Nikon d5200 (or d7000) vs Pentax k-30 (or k-5)?
I'm on a tight budget, in Croatia (Europe) I can get 650d for 600 dollars, k-30 and d5200 for 850$ (kit lens). I really like pentax but their lenses seem expensive and they are rare in second hand shops. Canon is the cheapest and I've seen some of my friends using it, but nikon and pentax on reviews have better IQ.
I enjoy taking portraits and landscapes, and blured backround bokeh that I can't get on my nikon bridge camera so I think that dslr is right thing to buy.

I love taking photos and I thought I'd love to get a DSLR camera as I feel the regular point and shoot compact cameras have had their day for me and I want something a bit more 'advanced'. I'm a complete beginner with the DSLR cameras so have been looking for a nice user friendly step up. I've narrowed it down to the Canon 100D/700D or the Nikon D3200 and was wondering what people's opinions on them were and which one i'd be better going for or if there's a better beginner friendly one I haven't thought of yet?

Is it good to buy a DSLR from an online store?
I wish to buy a new 'Nikon D3100'. I live in kochi

it comes with a genuine battery n charger n

Connect told me that it is difficult to get
warranty when i buy it from online as the
product doesn't comes with the orginal billing
(something lyk that), is that correct…
Somebody please clarify all my doubts.

Slight water damage to my camera?
I have a nikon d3100 and I was out shooting pictures of waves (my camera isn't waterproof) and an unexpected wave came up and splashed my camera. I took it out and dried it off thinking it wasn't that bad. Later there was fog under the screen and when I took a picture it was overexposed (I'm positive I had my exposure correct) I had the sb400 flash and kit lens attached. I removed the battery, sd card, lens and flash until I got home then placed it in rice. Should I take it to a camera repair place for inspection or do you think it will be fine?

I bought a Nikon Nikkor AF 35-135mm F/3.5-4.5 AF Lens some weeks ago, but i haven't tried it until now because i have one just like it, but when i turn on the camera + the newest lens it says "Lock lens aperture ring at minimum aperture (largest F-number)" even tho i have locked it in the largest F-number! And it works perfectly with the other identical lens i have!
Camera Body: Nikon D3200 (2012mod)
is my lens ruined? Can it be fixed? Can it be overridden?
