How does the sigma 70-200 f2.8 lens perform on a nikon d3000?
I have been shooting for over a year now and use a d3000 an 18-55 kit lens and a 35mm f1.8. I want something with more range to use for portraits, and eventually photographing school sports events. I was considering the sigma 24-70 f2.8, but don't think there's enough range for down the road if I want to shoot football. I know the d3000 isn't the best body to be shooting sports with, but will it do with the 70-200? Is it worth spending more to buy the APO or OS version (I'm on a low budget)?

What's a better camera for a beginner?
A digital camera like a Nikon p100?
or a digital SLR like canon rebel XS or Nikon d3000?
Added (1). Those are the three cameras i like, i have a budget, so don't list any other cameras please.

I'm an amateur photography and really got interested in this art. For Christmas, I could choose a DSLR for a gift, but there are too many choices for me to pick. I have a budget between $700-1000 and am considering a Canon T2i (550D) or a Nikon D90. But the Nikon D90 is almost 2 years since its introduction and the 550D is fairly newer and that both could be offer for around the same price. Also, please suggest some other good alternatives!
Added (1). I'm also considering Canon EOS 60D instead of the Nikon D90. Are there any major differences between the 60D and the 550D (t2i)? How are the handling of both differ?

I'm looking to buy the Nikon D3100 or the Canon 550D (aka Canon EOS Rebel T2i)
I'm mainly going to shoot bmx and what the camera defiantly for its video aspects too so could you help out choosing one with a lens Kit.
Was looking on buying the Nikon D3100 with the 18-55mm and the 55-200mm lens
[ Nikon D3100 14.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens and the Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR [Vibration Reduction] Nikkor Zoom Lens ]
Or should I rather buy the body with a 18-200mm lens (someone once mentioned it and haven't got an example of one)
And with the Canon 550D the 18-55mm and the 55-250mm lens
[Canon EOS Rebel T2i 18 MP CMOS APS-C Digital SLR Camera with 3.0-Inch LCD and EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens and the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras]
The same with the Canon should I rather buy only the body and then the 18-200mm
Please give me your choice of kit and if you prefer different lenses please mention them.
And what's your choice of Camera bag (must be a backpack) it should have save place to store the camera with 2 lenses and a flash (that's when i get more money to buy a flash). Would like to store my bmx helmet in there for if we go riding that I can have my camera and the helmet for if I want to ride to. Was looking at the [LowePro Flipside 200 Backpack] or the [LowePro Fastpack 100]. Please help out because this is something i would really like to have (A bag that can support both of my needs and not two bags)
Your advice would be appreciated.
**BTW it's my first DSLR and can't wait to start taking photos on a DSLR**

How to change my camera settings from Manual Focus for Auto Focus?
I set my Nikon D5000 to Manual Focus in my settings on accident. Now I don't know how to get off of it.

How does the nikon d3100 compare to the canon T1i (500 d)?
I'm undecided and they both seem to have equivalent features…

My nikon d3000 is not comeing on, what can I do to fix it?
I recently bought a nikon d3000 on eBay and under the description it said it was in perfect condition. I think the battery is not keeping a charge. When I charge the battery and put it in the camera a little green light will come on in the bottom right corner. I'm not sure what that means can someone please help?

Camera effect and adjustment to get this kind of photo?

Which digital SLR camera is best for me?
I have some experience in photography and using SLR cameras. I want to get back into it, and I'm looking to upgrade my old slr camera for a digital one. I have read many reviews but I'm stuck trying to figure out which would be the best for me. I originally planned on purchasing the Nikon D5000 because I have read that it is best for someone who is serious about photography but also relatively new to dslr, which is exactly what I want. However, now I know that it is being discontinued and that the D3100 would be it's replacement I guess? I'm so confused. I want a good quality camera like the Nikon 5000 which was also more in my price range and more for someone starting out where I'm. Should I go for the D3100 or just try and find the D5000?

Fastest shutter speed for Nikon D5000?
I was a little bad and went digging around the house to see what I was getting for Christmas and I'm getting a Nikon D5000. I have a couple of ideas for some of the first things I want to shoot but all include really fast motion. What is the fastest shutter speed of this camera that I can use to get a great shot (detail is important). If you are a Nikon d5000 users and know what to set the camera on please share. Also if you have any tips for shooting wildlife I would appreciate it.
