Fastest shutter speed for Nikon D5000?

I was a little bad and went digging around the house to see what I was getting for Christmas and I'm getting a Nikon D5000. I have a couple of ideas for some of the first things I want to shoot but all include really fast motion. What is the fastest shutter speed of this camera that I can use to get a great shot (detail is important). If you are a Nikon d5000 users and know what to set the camera on please share. Also if you have any tips for shooting wildlife I would appreciate it.

The max is 1/4000th of a second, which is rediculously fast. It can easily stop helicopter blades without blur in the correct conditions

If you need faster than 1/4000 seconds, then shoot with a strobe. You can get strobe pulses down to 1/10, 000 seconds, good enough to stop liquid splashes and water balloons popping. Synchronizing these events is the tough part, usually requiring custom built circuitry. Of course, shooting at 1/4000 sec shutter speed requires a bunch of light, so you'll be limited to bright day light or really bright artificial light.

Wildlife shooting generally takes a long lens in the 300 to 600mm range (see the Sigma 150-500mm zoom lens for something inexpensive). If you're shooting bugs, then a 105mm macro lens is helpful. Tripod and remote trigger (Nikon ML-L3) is really helpful. The best tip is let the animals come to you. Don't go chasing after them. If you are still for 15 minutes, wildlife will come to you. For seed eating birds, you can put out bird seed and hide in a makeshift blind. Choose times of the day where the critters will be properly lit like morning or late afternoon. Shooting critters with a camera is the same as shooting them with a gun - watch your wind direction, stay quiet, don't let them see your eyes, and don't get gored by Bambi.
