What kind of Nikon would be a good beginners camera?
So, my birthday is coming up and I'd like to purchase a camera. Both my brother and mom have a Nikon camera and they love them. But I don't know which one would be good for starters. I'd like to pick up more on photography and not just the general picture taking. I would like a Digital SLR Camera since I've already have the dig.compact ones. I've used my mom and it seems pretty good. Just it was a present to her so she doesn't really know a lot about them. Thanks for all of everyones time. I really appreciate the help. Is it possible to convert a 35mm SLR into a DSLR?
I have both a 35mm Nikon n5005 and a 7.2 Megapixel Samsung point and shoot. I was wondering if it is possible to align the CCD from the Samsung to that of the lens of the SLR, and then neatly put all the rest of the components in the cameras body.
Is something like this even remotely possible?

I'm in the process of buying a new camera. Lately I've been looking at the Canon Rebel T2i mainly because of the affordability and what you get for the price compared to a Nikon with the same features. Mainly my question is if since I already have a Nikon camera and lens, If i proceed in buying the Canon, would I be able to use the Nikon lens on it? I looked online and I saw that they do make an adapter for it… But is it only for a specific lens and or camera? Or would the adapter be okay for any Nikon lens on any Canon camera?
