Can I use a Nikon 35mm lens on a Canon T2i camera?

I'm in the process of buying a new camera. Lately I've been looking at the Canon Rebel T2i mainly because of the affordability and what you get for the price compared to a Nikon with the same features. Mainly my question is if since I already have a Nikon camera and lens, If i proceed in buying the Canon, would I be able to use the Nikon lens on it? I looked online and I saw that they do make an adapter for it… But is it only for a specific lens and or camera? Or would the adapter be okay for any Nikon lens on any Canon camera?

Not that I know of, the mounts are completely different.

No. Different mount (connection) types for each camera. There are some lens companies that do make lenses for different brand DSLRs, but you still need to make sure it is the correct mount type. There are also adapters for those different mount types, but I have no experience with them. For your camera it is the Canon EF mount.
