Seeking first entry level dslr camera advice (novice)?

I looked around for quite a bit. And even looked into the newer more compact mirrorless cameras. In the end, I still went back to Nikon or Canon. And after looking through them, I liked Canon's UI more. So I was considering the Rebel series. Like the T2i, T3, T3i, T4i, T5i, or the latest one SL1.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but other than T3, the core of the other Rebels are the same. If additional features/functions aren't that important to me, would grabbing the cheapest one (T2i) be good enough to play with for a few years? Like to get to learn photography on my own. The only thing stopping me is the typical saying, "You want to get newer models because they will be obsolete in a few years since new models are always coming out every year or bi-annually."

And possibly eventually get a better camera later on, whenever that may be.

So what's your thought?

What kind of Nikon is best for a semi-beginner photographer?

I'm a teenager who just got into photography about two years ago. For Christmas 2011 I got A Kodak Easyshare Camera and it was great for just getting started, but I'm ready to upgrade. I have fallen in love with photography (no specific kind, just a little of everything that inspires me) and I have gotten a lot of compliments on my pictures. I really hope to start a little business while I'm in High school. I don't know when I'll be able to get a new camera but I still want to do a little research and figure out what I want next. It's proven to be very difficult though, as I'm still such an amateur and just end up confused every time I try to look something up. Just trying to figure out about different kinds of lenses has been confusing. All I want is something a few steps above what I have now, and at a decent price. (say $300 tops) Here is what I really want out of my next camera:
- Different color options. (I figure most high quality cameras have that, but I take more black and whites than anything else, so that is essential.)
- A good zoom. (Mine takes an eternity to focus, and even if it finally does the picture is often fuzzy.)
- High-quality definition. (Mine has pretty great definition sometimes, but others it's not much more than any average digital camera.)

I'm really considering a Nikon, so here's the bottom line of this question: For all you photographers out there, what would you consider a good Nikon for a beginning photographer to take her pictures to the next level? I'm so thankful for the camera I have now, but honestly, I would be a little embarrassed to show up to take someone's portraits or something with it.

Is there a Sony NEX 3N equivalent but with a viewfinder?

I personally like viewfinders, so it's a huge letdown that the 3N doesn't have one. Is there something similar out there with a viewfinder?

One I found was the Panasonic G5, though the specs aren't as high. I also looked into the Nikon V1, which is pretty nice too. Any ideas from Canon or any other stuff?

Added (1). The A65 is a little outside my current budget. Would the A37 be any good? I'm really trying to be strict on my budget ($400-$600) so I don't start "creeping" with the budget.

Like my first budget is $400-$600, then I saw something $650 and be like that's okay, just a tad over. And then it became 400-650. And slowly creeping higher and higher.
