How to tell how much battery left on Canon EOS Rebel T3i?
How do I know how much battery I have left on my Canon EOS Rebel T3i? Even if I know I have full battery the red light thing sometimes blinks.
Some cameras, like my Nikon D800e, only let you know when you have about 20% of the charge left on the battery.
It is at this point I just switch batteries and continue shooting.
At the end of each shooting session, I fully charge my cameras batteries. My camera can get about 1200 shots on a fully charged battery. My old Nikon D3 could get closer to 3,000.
Each camera uses different amounts of power. The more you use your cameras LCD, the more power is drained. If your camera does not have an optical viewfinder, then the electronic viewfinder will further shorten the number of shots per charge.
All that to say this.
Always start your shooting day with a fully charged battery and carry a spare with you at all times. Read your manual - I'll bet there's a viewfinder display. Your charger will also tell you when the battery is fully charged. Turn your camera on, open your lcd screen, at bottom of the screen towards the left, see a pic of a battery. It has lines on it. More lines, more charge. Read your manual. The red light has nothing to do with the battery. It's amazing how people never read their manual and therefore never enjoy the full benefits of their camera. When in the camera, look at the battery indicator. Check the manual if you don't know where it is.
Red thing? You mean while charging? Do your charging overnight so you won't have to be bothered checking it now and then. Don't worry, the charger will go off automatically when done. Besides, you will want the trickle charge to fill up the battery to maximum.
