What do i neex to hook my nikon d5000 to my cowboy studio lighting kit?
Added (1). My cowboy lighting kit is strobe soft boxes
Added (2). So do I only need the AS-15?
The Cowboy Studio Lighting Kits that I have seen are continuous lights, not need to hook any of it up to your camera. Just turn them on, move them around until you have the right lighting and then using the cameras light meter take your shots
You need a Nikon AS-15 adapter in your hot shoe, or equivalent. Simple little unit that adds a PC socket to your PC socket-less camera. The Nikon model is $25 or less, generics on Ebay are a couple bucks. Cowboy Studio probably has something similar for cheap.
Hook the PC cord between one of the lights and your camera, turn on the optical slave on the other light(s) and there you go!
