I have a Nikon D3300 and I just bought a flash kit on ebay to practice with, but I don't have the right port to connect the wireless adapter to the camera. In fact, the jack port it has is for the mic. Can someone tell me how I get around this, please? Is there some sort of adapter I can purchase? The description had my camera listed as one that the kit is compatible with so was expecting to be able to plug in and go

When using studio flash units, you also need a flash trigger kit, transmitter and receiver.

The receivers use a standard 3.5 mm audio cord to connect the receiver to the flash unit(s)

Since you neglected to mention the brand and model number of your studio flash all I can do is give you some generic suggestions. Hopefully, your flash heads have an output of at least 400 w/sec each

Some studio flash units have built-in receivers, so all you have to do is supply the transmitter which mounts on your cameras hot shoe which is an accessory you can buy for your studio flash kit

Read the instructions that came with the lighting kit and see how it is supposed to operate.

I'm sure you can buy a special hot-shoe device which has a standard 3.5 mm plug for syncing flash units, but wireless is a better way to go. Having all those cords strung from camera to flash heads is just asking for someone to trip over them causing damage to the flash heads and/or your camera

When all else fails, read the instructions that came with the flash kit. Since we don't know what kind it is, we can't provide any help.

You need a hot shoe to 3.5mm adapter like:

Some studio flashes can be triggered off your built in flash. Since you didn't give the model of studio flash you got, no one can help you there.

You can also get flash cords that are 3.5mm on one end, PC on the other end. Hot shoe to PC adapters are common.

Personally, I use a Vello flash extension cord that just happens to have a PC jack. I use this to connect to my studio strobes.

That may look like a mic jack but that's actually a standard connector to the old film SLR flash PC port. To make use of that, get a flash PC adapter to slide into the hot shoe.
