Between those two cameras, just toss a coin. It really matters how the camera feels in your hands, so go to a camera shop and pick them up and see which one appeals to you.

Truthfully, except for a slightly faster continuous frames per second rate, the Canon T2i beats the Nikon D90 in almost all respects. If you were to ask about the T2i vs. The new D7000 (replacing the D90), though, I would choose the D7000. The price on the T2i is quite a bit lower.

I got to disagree with Picture Taker. The T2i has the edge in terms of resolution and video, but the D90 still has an advantage in technical sensor performance, ergonomics (obviously, two dials instead of one, top LCD), a more precise light meter, support for wireless flashes with Nikon CLS and some others.

Both are very fine and capable cameras, but their emphasis is slightly different.

Here is a comparison of some other technical aspects:

They're head to head for the intents and purposes of 99% of all users, so get whatever you're more comfortable with after trying it out at a camera store.

Let me make it easier for you… Nikon D90! Go hold both cameras and you'll know what I'm talking about.

The T2i has more megapixels, so if you print big that's important (big as in, bigger than about 30x40 inches). It also does 60 frames/second with 1080p video, where the D90 will only do 720p.

The D90 has a faster framerate and a more rugged body, and that's about it. It's just an older camera that can't be expected to outperform newer models anymore. It's still a fantastic camera, so if you can find one for less than a T2i, get it.

My answer will be of no help, whatsoever, but I prefer Nikon's over Canon's. I like Canon's and have worked with them, but for preference, I rather Nikon.
Nikon D90's are amazing, as well.
