Nikon SLR Cameras

What are the pros and cons between Nikon D3100 and Canon 1100D?

I'm planning to upgrade from a point and shoot camera to an entry level DSLR.

D3100 has 2 more megapixels, more accurate AF in video, slightly better high ISO performance. 1100D is a bit cheaper.

Image quality - absolutely the same, so just pick one and shoot. The sooner you realize your gear isn't everything, the better it is. No amateur or professional could ever tell which shot was taken with a certain camera.

Both are good, just see which one you feel comfortable with. I was in ever lasting discussion when purchasing my first SLR and at the end I learned both Canon and Nikon, are equally good and it would take lots of time to explore the features they offer.

The Nikon D3100 wins in this shootout.

Be aware that you are making a marriage with Nikon or Canon. As you buy lenses and other things that are camera specific, you will be able to upgrade the camera body, but only to the same company, Nikon or Canon.
