Are focus points and cross type focus points that important?

The Nikon D3200 has 11 focus points and 1 cross type focus point. The Nikon D5200 has 39 focus points and 9 cross type focus points. These are the only factors keeping me from buying the significantly cheaper D3200. So are focus points and cross type focus points really that important? What is their purpose and significance really?

New Nikon DSLR to replace Nikon D70s? - 1

I have a Nikon D70s body that I use for photo gigs and stuff but, I realized that I'm way out of date! I wanted to buy a new Nikon body but, a lot of them come with movie capability that I really don't need. Can anyone suggest a good replacement for this sturdy camera? Or should I even replace it at all and keep it as a back-up? I also have a Nikon SB 800 flash unit and will that work with a new body? Suggestions and answers would be really helpful.

Nikon d7000 Auto Focus Problems? - 1

Just got a brand new Nikon d7000 less than a week ago and today all of a sudden out of the blue the AutoFocus does not work. Won't focus and if you try and press the shutter it won't take pics either. Manual focus works fine. What is going on? Any suggestions on what might have happened?!

I'm using the Nikon d7000 with the 18-105mm VR lens. Both the auto focus button on the camera and on the lens are clicked to auto focus but it won't work. If I switch the buttons to manual it works fine. Brand new camera… Any help would be appreciated!

How to manual focus with Nikon D3000? - 1

I have a Nikon D3000. I'm totally new in cameras, i just use cameras like this for taking pictures of my aquariums for online forums and stuff… And sometimes, the auto focus just doesn't cut it. Especially when trying to focus onto little 1/2 cm long fry (new born fish). And i don't know where the thing is to adjust the focus… Please help

Nikon D3200 DSLR camera reviews and is it worth the money? - 1

I really love the Nikon D3200 DSLR camera. It's $600 and my dad said he might split the cost with me, but he wants to do some research first. Any reviews on this camera? Is it worth the money?

Nikon D3100 Aspect Ratio?

I just got the camera, and my biggest gripe at the moment is that it shoots photos in 4:3 aspect ratio, which is the ugliest crop I've ever seen. I know that you can use the retouch menu to go back and crop each photo individually but is there a way you can shoot in 16:9 instead? It would be much appreciated if anyone knew.

Why is there no focus indicator on the nikon d3200 camera? - 1

I own a D3200 nikon camera. I also own a lens AF nikkor 70-300mm for it… Which apparently does NOT auto focus.

Using the lens and the camera without auto focus. How do I know that the shot is in fact in focus, OTHER than (use your eye) are there indicators that still say "you are in focus" even if the lens does not auto focus itself?

39 AF points in Nikon D5200. Can I manually focus each one of them? - 1

This is one of the things which is making me to go for D5200 (rather than D5100), If I can't manually control all those focus points, I would rather go for D5100

Are these XLR cables the same?

I'm purchasing a Rode Reporter Omnidirectional mic and need an XLR cable to plug them into my Nikon D5100. I only have 2 choices online:

"Sescom SES-TR-153 Female XLR to RA 3.5mm 1/8 Pro DSLR Mic Cable,"

one is no name brand

"3M XLR 3 Pin Female to Right Angle 1/8" 3.5mm Stereo Jack Mic Audio Cord Cable"

The price difference is 100. Will they both be compatible with the Rode Mic? Should I go with the more expensive one? Are these XLR cables the same - 1
