Use a film lens for a digital camera?
This may be an incredibly stupid question, I appreciate that. Just I have stumbled on some amazing camera lenses from a Minolta camera. I was just wondering if they would at all fit my Nikon D3000, or if I could get an adapter for it… Thanks for any help!
Added (1). I also have Vivalta and Sigori lenses

I'm 16 and one of my hobbies is photography. I have a nikon D3000 and i've been messing around with it and photoshop for about a year not and I've found out how to do some really cool things, but does anyone have any suggestions for growing in my photography skills?

About how many photos can an 8GB memroy card hold?
If the photos are taken in RAW and are 'large'.
and taken with a Nikon D3100 if that matters.
I doubt the brand matters, but SanDisk
Added (1). Thank you, and I will use the space, it was a serious question. I'm currently studying abroad in Paris and have already taken around 2, 000 + photos. So I believe I will need 2 or 3 more cards.
But thank you to the one real answer.
Added (2). To Zi Yang Lai, first, I never said I was shooting in RAW.
Second, I have multiple cards… Obviously

How to start photography business?
I'm 16 and one of my hobbies is photography. I have a nikon D3000 and i've been messing around with it and photoshop for about a year not and I've found out how to do some really cool things. Obviously it wouldn't be a business now because I'm young, but does anyone have any suggestions for growing in my photography skills?

Macro photos without macro lens?
I'm an absolute rookie in DSLR photography, and I'm planning to get myself a Nikon D3100 and a Nikon 40mm f/2.8G AF-S DX Micro lens. It is within my budget, but I'm wondering whether I should not be too hasty in getting the Macro lens. I really love macro photos and it is one of the main reasons why i would like to pick up DSLR photography. My question is, can i shoot nice macro photos without a specialised macro lens?

Do RAW images take up more room on a memory card than Normal images?
I don't know if it matters, but I'm using a Nikon D3100.
Added (1). On my camera the quality options are Basic, Norm, Fine, RAW, and RAW + F
Then of course theirs large, medium and small, mines always been at large.
So if I use RAW, does that take up more room on my memory card than Norm?

I have big problem, please Help! I made some photos with 1 memory card in camera, and I saw them on the display. When I came home, and put the card in computer, new photos weren't there, just old ones. And now I can't even see them on the display. What should I do?
Added (1). So, my camera saves in 2 formats, JPEG and NEF. My computer can't open NEF so I delete it every time. It appears that this time all photos were in NEF (I don't know how), and I've deleted it. I don't't even knof what NEF is, and now I'm trying to restore deleted files, but hopeless. It seems impossible… Help please…

I have a Nikon D3100 with the 18-55mm lens, for some reason it own auto focus now?
I usually use it for fishing and never had a problem with it (doesn't get wet and I look after it) everything works on it and I've cleaned the connectors, taken the battery out and the card, put it all back in and still doesn't auto focus.
Added (1). The lens is on auto mode
Added (2). The motor won't work at all, I can use it in manual and that's it. Tried resetting to factory setting etc

Can I use a Nikon AF lens on a Nikon d5100?
"Note! AF not supported by D40, D60, D3000 & D5000 cameras"
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/...roduct/97…
quoted from the site I want to purchase from. I have the newer D5100 and it doesn't say specifically d5100, it just says d5000. Do the d5000 just lump all 5000 series cameras?
I'm wondering because the AF-S is 110 dollars more expensive and if I get an AF and mine requires AF-S the Auto Focus won't work. Not that I use the Auto Focus very often, but I'm paying hard earned and saved money for something that works dangit! Plus my husband sometimes picks the camera up and auto focus is all he knows.
Added (1). Hrm, well crud. I'll have to wait for the site to have the AF-S lens in stock then. And cough up the extra money. That's a bummer.

How large can I blow up a 4, 608 pixels x 3, 072 pixels picture?
I'm new to the photography world. I shot a picture with my Nikon D3100, and the photo has a width of 4, 608 pixels, and a height of 3, 072 pixels. What is the maximum I would be able to blow this picture up to print and frame?
Added (1). I shot the photo in JPEG I believe. Is there any way this could be blown up to a poster size (20 x 30)?
Added (2). Can it be blown up larger than 20 x 30? If so, what is the largest approximately?
