My Nikon D3100 is broken. I think?
All of the sudden, my camera won't take any pictures on any mode. Whenever I press the shutter release it just makes a really weird squeaking noise and won't focus on the subject. Do I have to take it in somewhere to be fixed?
I bought a MIC-1 for my camera from JJC. I plugged it in to the audio outlet on my camera (Nikon d3100) and put the battery in and turned the mic on. However when I started recording nothing happened to the sound quality when I talked it was the exact same.Am i missing a step? Can someone let me know how to work the audio?

What are good photography books for enthusiasts?
Preferably books about still life, black and white, portraits and people. I really like still life and B&W shoots but I really need to up my game on portraits and people since I also photograph family during occasions. Oh and if they can be downloaded from the internet as well. Author and books title and content would be very helpful. I'm not studying photography but I really love to shoot.
