Opteka Remote Shutter Release compatible with Nikon D3100?

Though the title says it works with the Nikon D3100, I plugged it in (it was hard to do so) but it doesn't work. I attemped it on the Auto and Manual settings. It will not take shots, nor will it autofocus when half pressed. Any help would be appreciated.

Added (1). Fhotoace: thanks but I don't live in the US so getting a US warranty is not going to do me any good. And I do know that buying it from France is gonna cost more but I don't have anyone to bring it for me from the US (and I don't have a credit card to but it myself)
I recently filmed a short clip of my pet with my Nikon D3100 and when I uploaded it to my computer and edited it, it was in HD but after I put it on YouTube the highest resolution was 480p but the quality seemed worse than that.
Is it to do with my internet speed, it was a 2 minute video but it took 80 minutes to upload?
My download speed is 13.34mb/s which is alright but my upload speed is a bad 0.74mb/s.
Added (1). Oops, I went onto the YouTube website and just clicked upload.
I upload my photos from the sd card from this camera corrected them in photoshop. Now when i put the photo that i correct back on the card and back in the camera to view them and it said no image found but they are on the card.
How can i fix that?
