Usually, edited pix won't display when returned to a camera. Did you put them back in the proper folders? DCIM and the next one down? That might work, but I really don't think so. Good luck. Mail them to your PDA and show them there.

Ah ha, another in the long list who didn't read the instructions. Cameras are not viewing devices.
They will not display a photo once it's been altered from it's original recording. Alteration happens in upload - now your camera can't see that file.

I'd suggest you find some other device to show off with to your friends.

No problem.

Nothing to fix. Cameras aren't viewing devices. They can only preview unmodified pictures they took. Simply copying out a picture and copying it back in constitutes modification already.

It is never a good idea to view a photo you changed in an editor in the camera.

Cameras do not have sophisticated viewing systems. The on-board firmware space is limited, and since most of the programming goes into image processing and camera functionality, the remaining space only allows for so much programming.

For this reason, camera manufacturers only typically include enough functionality to view photos taken by the camera, and only expects to have the height x width pixel orientation of the photos the camera can produce. Also, it is expecting to have a un-modified header in the file, a certain file name and format, and so on.

If the photo is edited, most of the time, these things are changed. So when trying to view such a photo in the camera, it may not recognize it. And there's some risk here. In many situations, when the camera attempts to view the photo, it could corrupt the SD card, wiping out all of your photos. Cameras are not universal photo viewing devices.

If you want to edit your photo and still view it in your camera, cameras such as the D3000 do have rudimentary editing ability. Typically you can crop the photo, straighten it, and a few other tasks. But these are nowhere near the capability of a post processing software.

It is permissible to return deleted photos to a memory card, but only if they have never been edited, and you do not change the photo's name (and assuming a photo with the same name is not already on the memory card). However, if you have altered the file in any way (or if your download app does), you risk corruption of the memory card should the camera not be able to view the file.
