What's a better purchase: a DSLR or a HD video camera?

Is a DSLR a better camera to purchase for video and stills than a HD video camera?

I would like to take good quality video footage. I've done a lot of research on the different features and pros and cons of DSLRs. The biggest concern I would have with purchasing a DSLR is that they overheat. I would like to take great crisp, clear video footage, and I've read over and over that a lot people take video with DSLRs these days. An advantage of owning a DSLR is they also take great stills. (I'm looking at buying the Nikon d3200)

Although video cameras are designed for taking video, they don't seem to have a movie/professional look to them, where DSLRs do. Video cameras do not overheat like DSLRs, which is an important detail when taking a video.

Basically, what is YOUR opinion? A video camera or a DSLR? Both have pros and cons, but in the end, which is worth my money?

Nikon D3100 14.2MP DSLR Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens, 3 LCD, HD Video?

OK. I know nothing about camcorders or these type of cameras. I'm considering purchasing this one. Is this a good choice and I also wanted to know how or if I would be able to use the video clips from the camcorder and put it on a DVD?

Nikon d90 macro lens?

Okay so I have a Nikon d90 which has been sitting on my desk gathering the dust ever since my ex boyfriend did something to it… Its not broken but I can't seem to be able to make the same quality pictures as I used to. Not sure if he cracked my focus or anything but in any case I haven't played with it in a while. I was thinking of changing the lens. And I really wanted to get a macro lens and explore a bit with that… Since I'm not a photographer and I haven't played with my camera in a while I really don't want to be spending a lot of money on a lens. Could anybody more into this stuff give me an advice as to what to get? :/ I don't wanna spend more than 200 and all the websites I've checked online ppl name lenses that are way off my price range…

I checked a local website and someone is selling these

What does manual exposure in video mode mean?

Currently, I own a Nikon D3200 which allows me to take videos only in Live Mode. That is, I can't use the 9 AF points thru the viewfinder while taking videos. It makes the focus changes pretty slow.

I've just read the online review of Canon 60D. It says this camera has "EOS HD video mode with manual exposure control". Does it mean I can use 9 AF points thru viewfinder and in Live Mode?

How to regain the ability to see through my nikon d5100 viewfinder?

For some reason, I can no longer see the image through my nikon d5100 viewfinder while taking pictures. I would rather not use live view and the playback works fine. It worked fine yesterday and I can't seem to figure out if there's a setting I need to adjust.

A short introduction about a Dslr lenses for me?

I'm new to photography. Can anybody teach me what camera lenses on a Nikon D5100 do? I mean I know the lenses are used to take the picture but how will it enhance the picture? I find some Slrs having a scope as if it was a gun attachment or something alike. How is this necessary?

I'm going to buy a dslr for an independent music video. I don't want to buy something I'll regret.
