Is the Canon EOS Rebel T3 better than the Nikon D3100?
I'm leaning more towards the EOS Rebel T3 but I'm not 100% sure. I've done some research and both have great reviews.
Either of these cameras are good learning cameras.
One is not better than the other.
Pros of the Canon
1. Lighter body
2. Good battery life
3.AF motor built into the camera
Pros of the Nikon
1. Full 1080p HD video and can shoot at 24fps
2. Continuous focus while making videos
3. Larger sensor
It really boils down to what you want in a camera. What is more important to you. If you want to shoot video then the Nikon is the camera for you. If you want the ability to use older lenses that do not have a focus motor than the Canon is better for you.
This is a decision you have to base on what you need/want from a camera.
If the Canon feels better to you, buy it.
If the Nikon feels better to you, buy it.
No one can give you the "right" answer to this question except you.
They have a similar size sensor and similar quality lenses so either will give great photos.

Differences are marginal. Go for the one that feels better in your hands.
Basically you need to visit a proper camera shop and see which feels the best to you in your hands.
Here is a link that compares the sensors performance, but in the end, your skills will produce the amazing images no matter which you buy.

As you can see there's very little difference in the sensor performance, so in the end, the images you shoot will depend upon your skills using a fully adjustable camera
