How long does a DSLR last?

I have a Nikon D60 (gold edition) that seems to be getting a bit worse for wear. I do take very good care of my baby, and in two years the file-number HAS rolled over. There seems to be a dead pixel in my sensor, so is this normal for how many pictures I've shot? Or did I get a faulty camera?

And should I get it repaired, or get a whole new camera?

DSLR's should last 50000 shots and more.
Some over 150000.

File numbers "roll over" after only 10, 000 shots. Your camera should last for about 20 times that. What causes people to buy new camera bodies has more to do with the advancement of technology, NOT because they wear out.

Dead pixels are NOT normal and usually show up when you first use the new camera.

Call Nikon and they will help you "map" the stuck or dead pixel so it does not show up in all your images. 800. NIKON-UX
