How long does your Nikon DSLR camera batteries last?

I just bought the Nikon D5000 a few weeks ago and the battery gets low if i use it for like 2 hours. I feel like it should last longer. How long does your battery last?

Thanks! I still have a a week to exchange it if something is wrong.

And i hope all of you guys have a good day.

What do you mean by using it for two hours? Is live-view on all the time, or are you recording video? Both consumes a lot of power.

On my D90 the batteries last roughly 750 shots

It depends on how much you use your camera. If you turn it off between shots it will last much longer than if you just leave it on continuously.

All I use is Nikon cameras right now and my batteries usually last a crazy long time! I only use official Nikon batteries, too because I got burned on a couple of bad knock offs. However, it sounds like you're using the one that came with it so you're all right there.

Like the other guy said… It depends on how you're using your camera. Live view should be off unless you're shooting video. When I'm just shooting pics, I can take a couple hundred a day for a few days on one battery. When I shoot video, I can shoot a couple hours worth of video on one battery.

Is your display always on? Are you using Live View too much? Lot's of video? How about flash? Are you taking pictures where they all require flash? Is the camera constantly focusing… Perhaps because you're taking active shots and following the action?

And, lastly, perhaps the battery is bad. It happens.

If you use the LCD that often, you'll run out of power fast. Don't use the camera as a viewer.

Depends how much you use it. Try not to leave it on, don't use flash if not needed, try using the viewfinder and turn the LCD off too. Maybe 700-800 shots?
