How long does a nikon d5000 battery last?

I'm looking to get this camera for christmas and i have a few questions about it.

1: how long does the battery last
2: how long does it film for (how many minutes of video can it record)
3: can you bring an external battery or an external chip to store memory?
4: are there in camera editing tools
5: are there in camera color correction tools

Also the main reason i want this camera is because it does depth of field and i have lenses that also work for nikon cameras and do dof. Is there possibly an alternative that can do this? Please answer the above before answering this.

1) The batteries themselves can last for many years if you take care of them The batteries used in te D5000 can shoot up to 510 shots before you have to recharge them or switch batteries

3) Of course. I carry a spare battery always and I have at this time 14 different memory cards which I carry with me. I use small ones 2 gb for shooting fashion and studio assignments and 8 gb when shooting motor cross or the drags. The 4 gb cards I use one per half when shooting football and basketball.
4) There are some in-camera retouching tools
5) There are not only white balance choices for the standard lighting conditions, but fine tuning as well.
