Lol, those cameras are OKAY. I'd go with a Feijanga F470S, or a PAINAS 69F.

It's not so much as which one is "better", but rather which one is better for you. The average person would be equally happy with either camera. They both operate differently. Nikon focus backwards to how Canon's lenses turn (or Canon does it backward if you talk to a Nikon guy). Menu systems are differently organized, with Canon being a little bit better, but nothing that can't be gotten used to in short while.

For video, Canon is the clear winner - especially when you get the Magic Lantern firmware upgrade which adds a lot of important features that centered around making videos. Out of the box, they're about the same.

Another camera is the Pentax K50, which costs less, outperforms both cameras in terms of maximum shutter speeds, maximum frames per second (6fps vs 3fps), weather/dust proof body (neither the T5 or D3300 are weather/dust sealed). In-body image stabilization - this in a huge deal allowing 2-3 stops slower shutter speeds without having to use high ISOs, or a tripod or a flash. Lowering your ISO 2-3 stops is how the Pentax can take shot simply not possible with Canon or Nikon unless you buy a stabilized lens, and if they actually make one for your specific needs. Pentax's IBIS can be used with any lens ever made for or by Pentax because it shifts the sensor not the lens elements.

The Canon T5 has the ability to shoot 14-bit RAW files which have 4x the tonality of the12-bit RAW files taken by the K50 and D3300. This won't show up as a better looking image. Where this becomes a benefit is when you're editing your images. The T5 will allow you to recover more detail from the shadows and highlights. For reference, JPEGs are 8-bit files (256 tones);12-bit RAW files (4,000 tones); 14-bit RAW (16,000 tones). More data, larger files, requiring more storage and a faster computer for editing, but it is worth it if you're a landscape shooter. If so, then I'd choose the T5 over the K50 or D3300. While I really like the weather proofing and IBIS, if you're not going to be using these features, then go with the T5.

You can get any one of those, both are really good. Nikon lenses are a little expensive when compared to Canon. Other than that, both are excellent. But as there are some offers going on for Canon, I would recommend Canon. If you need Canon DSLR with bundled offer and rebates, mail me for more info.

If you are going to get the bottom of the line, the Nikon D3300 is less stripped down than the Canon T5. The T5 even lacks dust reduction.
