I can either buy a Canon or a Nikon. If you have any other suggestions then feel free to write them too!

In that price range, you'll get a small P&S camera, and those ones are all pretty similar, so just pick one you like. Personally, I'd stay away from Kodak and Vivitar, and would pick either a Canon or a Nikon.

Little P&S cameras all have limitations (shutter lag and low light issues being the worst).
Both cameras you linked to are what I would consider a toy.

It really depends on exactly WHAT you want to achieve with it and what your expectations are.

If your intention is to take snapshots in pretty good light, then small P&S cameras will work just fine.
If you want to take photos in less than ideal lighting situations, then they won't do all that well.

If you want to get serious about photography, you'll need to pick a camera that gives you a lot of manual control so you can get away from the "auto" setting and start learning.

If you're willing to spend a bit more money, this one is more expensive, but you also get a lot more camera, and it is a great compromise between a little P&S and a DSLR - it allows much room for learning and creativity: http://www.usa.canon.com/...ot_sx30_is

Canon A490 Focus on subjects 8x closer to the lens. At its widest zoom, the A490's lens captures marginally more light (0.2 f-stops). Nikon S3000 Helps eliminate blur caused by small camera movements. The S3000's maximum light sensitivity is 1 f-stop better.
