That depends on what you want to photograph. Different types of lenses are used for different types of subjects. You know that right?

The new Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR is supposed to be very good. Currently it can be pre-ordered for $1067. It's a serious investment in a serious lens that can probably make those 24 megapixels show what they're good for.

The kit lens that comes with the camera is a good lens.
