Starter Dslr camera?

I'm looking for a starter Dslr camera. What would you suggest? And what's better or are they the same, Nikon or canon?

Not much between the two really, it all comes down to personal preference in the end, I'd suggest going to a camera store and have a play with both and decide which feels right for you. Dslr's have been around for a long time now, there's not really a bad one as such, even the base consumer level models will take good pictures.
