SLR camera for under $500?

I'd like to get a Nikon slr camera, but I have a budget of around 500 or under. I'd like one with good quality and focus. I'm new with slr's so any help?

How about under $550 like the D3000 with 18-55 mm lens.

ALL Nikon dSLRs are good quality and have excellent focus. That is what they and other makers of dSLR's are all about.

SLR cameras you can get pretty cheap now-a-days

DSLR is what I think you mean, in which case with special promotions, you can get a Nikon D3000 for exactly $500 without any needed items and accessories at all.
