What a good point and shoot camera under 500 dollars?

Camera or Nikon would be nice, I love the Canon sx30IS, but is there anything with better quality? I would love it to take nice pictures and good non-shaky video. Any suggestions?

The Canon G12 is really good.

The SX30 has been replaced by the SX40. Also consider the Coolpix P500 and P7100. The G12 (an excellent camera) will soon be replaced by the G1X.

In your budget, you can get Canon EOS Rebel T3 one of the best cameras this year. The quality is much better than sx30 IS. Check out what this reviewer says about the pros and cons:
