On my Nikon D3400 when you try to take a video, a little mic with a line goes through it and when you get the finished product of you?

OK, the solution is in your camera's Instructions Manual. Ever consider READING your camera's Instructions Manual? I'll give you a hint: that's what the Instructions Manual is for!
"Little mic with a line through it" means no sound. You're missing something and perhaps it's in the settings. Not everyone has a D3400 but you do and you have the manual. The answer has to be in there.

Unfortunately, the manual is so poorly written about the mute function that you would have a hard time knowing how to find this info unless you know the terminology which is non-standard since Nikon tried to simplify the language. Also, the D3400 manual doesn't have an index, so you need the PDF manual so you can search for terms.
Look on page 48 & 70 in your manual. Under Movie Settings, you'll find a Microphone setting. Check that this is set to Auto.
