Nikon 1 V1 vs Canon EOS M vs Sony NEX - 3N?
I'm planning to buy a MILC, but not sure which to choose. So here are the details: Sony Alpha NEX-3N kit (16-50mm) for 456 USD, or Canon EOS M kit (EF-M 18-55mm IS STM + 90EX flash) for 456 USD or Nikon 1 V1 (10-30mm VR Kit) for 433 USD. Which would you choose and why?
Sony are the big boys here, but some dealers may still be throwing in an EF lens adapter with the EOS-M (allowing it to use DSLR lenses), if you can find one, this may be worth checking out.
I'm not particularly fond of EVIL cameras, but both Sony and Canon have decent-sized sensors.
I wouldn't give the Nikon to a dog.
This tool rates the Canon EOS M as better than the Nikon 1 V1.

and the Sony NEX-3N better than the Canon.

While I would be tempted to get the Nikon because it can leverage off of my Nikon gear, the Sony NEX series has been my favorite in this category for years.
The Nikon V1 has a smaller sensor than either the Sony or Canon, so you should understand that.
However, within it's class, the V1 is an outstanding camera (I own one).
But I only paid $299 for it - new - in Dec 2012 when Nikon had them on sale. Expect the Nikon V2 to be replaced soon by the V3 - and there should be some similar savings.
Which one you would prefer is up to your needs. For example, the Nikon V1 was paramount to me as I have Nikon DSLR gear, and I can use my DSLR lenses on the V1, as well as the $299 price I paid for it - there's no better camera at that price.
If I were to buy one of the three cameras - stand-alone (i.e. Not to be used with any other equipment), and if a small package were my main requirement - I would buy the Sony NEx.
Andrew… Have you actually used a Nikon V1… I doubt it.
