Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 OR Tamron 17-50 f/2.8?

I really need help deciding what lens i should get!
I often find myself in 'tight' and 'crowded' situations and my 24-85 f/2.8-4 isn't helping much (especially cause it doesn't have a fixed aperature).

here is a list of the lenses in my bag:
Sigma 70-200mm f2.8
Nikkor 24-85mm f/2.8-4D IF
Nikkor 50mm 1.4

is the 11-16 range too limiting?

Lens diaphragm fixable?

I have this old Nikkor 50 1.4 that I've kept as a decorative piece on my desk for a while now. I tried cleaning it, something I have done before (over three years ago) and I must have loosed the wrong screw or messed something up because the diaphragm has become loose and unresposive to the levers. Now it's stuck, some of the blades are visible through the lens but the others seem stuck in the wide open position.

Is this something that can be repaired easily by a professional or have I damaged it too much?

Can I get away with 2 ND8's on an 17mm lens?

I was wondering if I could use 2 ND8's on a Nikkor 17-55mm 2.8 for DX, using the wide end? Thats crop factor of 1.5

If danger of vignetting I will get a stronger and and just use one, but the 8's are the strongest I have at the moment.

What Shutter speed to use?

Using Calumet 4x5 View Camera with
Schneider Kreuznach 210mm f:5.6/370mm f:12 Symmar
Or using a 35mm Nikon F
135mm Nikkor Q f:3.5

How to figure out which shutter speed to use when using a
Gossen Ascor Mark 2 Flash meter Flash meter gives f-Stops only doing a Portrait Using the Nikon F, 35mm Camera with a
Nikkor Q 135mm f:3.5 Lens and the light meter calls for
f:16 or F:22 what shutter speed should I use need to go below 1/60th.
Now if I use the 4x5 View Camera with the
Schneider Kreuznach 370mm f:12 Symmar using the Green scale and light meter gives me f:16 or f:22 what shutter speed should I use?
Do you have a link with a chart to figure this out?

I'm planning on going to the NYC area with a friend for a photoshoot, and I was wondering where there were some interesting places to shoot at?

I usually do cliche backgrounds like beaches, graffiti walls, train tracks and parks. Any interesting places or ideas?

Please help!

(PS for anyone who was wondering I do portrait photography and have a nikkor telephoto zoom lens)

Any ideas over nikkor 50mm 1.4g or 85mm 1.8g?

I'm more concerned about the out of focus background rather than sharpness…
i know that the bokeh is more when focused at nearer subjects. But i need comparison for the portrait and street shots at same distance.
your comments will be valuable.

Can I fit a Nikon Nikkor AF-S G DX 35 mm F/1.8 Lens on mark ii 5d with a adapter?

I just bought a mark ii 5d and I'm looking for a lens that's cheap. I found this one on ebay and I was wondering if I could do that and if that's a good idea. I know theirs a canon adapter so you can fit Nikon lens on them.

Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D Autofocus Lens good for low lighting settings?

I'm in the market for a 50mm lens and I was set on buying the 1.8 d until I read that the 1.4 D offers better clarity photos in low light settings. I usually photograph a lot of performances at my school (lit stage, strobe lights, etc.) and was wondering if the 1.8 will give me the clarity of shots that I need or if I should just buy the 1.4. If I can get pretty great shots in stage settings with the 1.8 I would rather stick with that since it's a lot cheaper, which for a college student like me would be the most beneficial.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

ps: This question is a repost from one I posted in the "photography" section. I realized it would be more beneficial to post it in the camera section so all of you tech-wizards could have a stab at it!
