Nikkor 18-105, 16-85 or 24-85?

I have been searching for a while now, trying to find a lens that takes really sharp images, and my main use is going to be for portraits. I have a d5200, and i have heard from some people that fx lenses aren't such a good idea for dx body, but i have also heard that 24-85 out-performs all of these. So which one should i go for?

Added (1). When i said that my main use is portraits, i meant MAIN use, not ONLY use! I do shoot other stuff too. In other words, i want to know which lens is an overall better, walk around, everyday lens. Oh and, 18-105 is slightly cheaper than the other too. Is there a Huge Difference between the 18-105 and the other ones?

What is the sharpest normal zoom nikkor lens?

When i say normal zoom i mean 16mm-200mm sort of range. I have a d5200 and i want to get a lens that takes really sharp photos, specially portraits. I have a couple in mind, like the 18-105, 16-85, 24-85, 18-200,… Etc. But like i said sharp images is all i care about, NOT THE ZOOM. And i want a NORMAL lens, not a wide or single-focal length lens. By the way, is it a good idea to get an fx format lens (like the 24-85) for a dx camera? If so, what are the benefits?

Which lens would be the better choice: Sigma 24mm 2.8 AF or the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 AF-S?

I'm looking to buy a new macro lens on Craigslist, preferably a 35mm for quality bokeh, and i saw an ad for the Sigma, which i have heard good things about. But i hate trying something new with my photography, only to be disappointed and out a couple hundred dollars!

Both lenses are on sale for about 170 dollars. And i'll be shooting mostly street photography, so plenty of sunlight, but also plenty of movement.

Is the Sigma lens really that much better? Is it worth my risk?

Nikon Lenses: Learning about them?

So I still don't understand Nikon lenses.

VR?
G?
Nikkor?

What do those things mean?

AF-"S"? I know AF is for Auto Focus, but what is the S? Stabilization? This one I ask just in case it means something else for Nikon. Since I know Nikon does have different names for some things, like DX = Cropped and FX = Full Frame.

Also, Which are the top of the line lenses? I know with Canon it's anything with the red ring and "L" on it.

Nikon looks to have the right stuff for me. So I would like to learn all I can about their lenses before I dive right in.

Nikon 18-200mm vs Nikon 18-300mm vs Tamron 18-270mm?

Hey--
So I'm going on a cruise to Alaska soon and thought it would be a good incentive to buy a new all in one lens around the 18-200/300 range (I have been looking for a while for a good all in one option). I posted a question similar to this about two other lenses but had some more come into the picture. Now I officially have these as my options. I added the Tamron because I'm on a budget (If I were to be honest I'm 14 and buy my lenses off money from odd jobs and allowance) and looking for a cheap option for an all in one lens. The two Nikon lenses are on the steep side ($500 on Amazon and $900 retail) so I would like to hear an answer that's similar to "Go for Tamron." However I want a good quality lens and I'm assuming that's the Nikon but I've heard other wise.
---Thanks for the help!

Nikon Nikkor 18-300mm OR 24-120?

Ok, so here it goes--
I have been looking to buy a second lens for a while now, and in a little bit I'm going on a cruise to Alaska. I figured I would use the trip as an incentive to actually carry out this purchase. But, now I'm facing a problem- which lens to get? I'm looking at these two so far. What is your opinion on the two? Which one would you buy? Could you recommend another similar lens in the price range or lower of these tow lenses. Also- if I were to get the 24-120 lens would I regret not getting the extra zoom range on both ends, especially the 120-300 gap?

Nikkor 50mm f1.8g autofocus problem?

Are nikkor lenses durable? I accidentally hit it softly to the car door, then when I autofocus sometimes i hear it ticking about 3 times or more before it focuses but sometimes it doesn't tick anymore. Is there a problem whit my lens?
