What camera should I upgrade to after owning the canon xsi?

I bought the xsi when I was in grade 8, which was four years ago. I'm now looking to buy a nikon because I personally like them much more, my grandfather gave me his F-801s film camera and an AF Micro Nikkor 60mm 2.8 D and I have used his D500 many times. He also has several lenses so I could borrow them whenever. I love doing macro and landscapes, people pictures don't interest me too much. I want to start doing more star trails and long exposures, I will also be doing a semester abroad in either New Zealand or Australia in university. I was looking at the D7100 or D5200, I would love to get a full frame camera but I definitely do not have the money for that considering I'm going to university next year. I would be getting the body only, as I want to get a 50mm prime lens instead of the kit lens. Which camera out of these two and why, or a different Nikon? And what lenses would be best to look into? My grandfather already has the AF-S 18-300mm 3.5-5.6G, AF Micro 105mm 2.8 and a 24mm 2.8 D. Thanks in advance! (and I have about $1400 to spend but nothing more than that for now)

Added (1). I also will be shooting RAW and want to be able to print large pictures to hang up.

What lens is best for me?

I'm a passionate hobbyist, and am looking to add some gear to my camera bag.
My skills are not amateurish, but unfortunately I have a very tight budget so my gear is…
*Nikon D7100
*Tamron 28-75 F/2.8

I want to add a telephoto lens for portraiture and wildlife, only thing is I can't decide which one, my budget is about $800 and I don't mind buying something used if I have to.

Here are some that I was considering:

#1.Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 (non vr) $770 new

#2.Nikon 80-200 f/2.8d ed af $770 used

#3.: Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR1 $1, 300 used

If you have opinions on any of these lenses or better suggestions I would much appreciate them.

NOTES:

I understand the crop ratio of my dx sensor camera.

I don't mind heavy or long lenses, so those are not cons for me.

I prefer constant apertures, especially 2.8 or faster.

Wider aperture is more important than Vibration Reduction in my opinion, and VR is not a necessity.

And obviously my #3 choice of lens is way out of my price range, and will take a few extra months before I can afford… In your opinion is it worth the wait?

Added (1). I do use manual override often, so if you have a the telephoto Tamron is the focus sharp and accurate enough that I won't miss that feature too much?

Is autofocus always important?

I think that getting a Nikkor AF 50mm lens would be better than getting an AF-S one.
My camera doesn't have an autofocus motor.

Why or when is autofocus important?

Cracks on the camera lenses

My AF-S NIKKOR 18-55 mm's lenses is cracked at the front. At the wording of 18-55 mm 1:3.5-5.6 G VR it cracked from about 0.5 cm before the word until the 1:3.5-5.6. Will this affect my camera? I'm not really sure how the crack appear. I just noticed it just now. I'm afraid it's broken. I tried to take some picture with it and it still works but just in case.

Stuck film advance lever?

I have a Nikon Nikkormat EL that my dad gave to me a few years back and I haven't used in a while. When I went to use it, the film advance lever is stuck. It will move from a closed to open position with no problem, but will not swing out to advance the film. I've fiddled around with it and replaced the batteries but nothing works. The frame counter is on S and I have no idea how to change it back to the beginning. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Which camera to buy? - 1

I finally have enough cash to buy a camera and I'm utterly lost.
My first question:
What level of camera should I buy: entry, intermediate, or pro?
I know I want full manual, I want to be able to make my own presets (Canon) but I want a odd-bladed diaphragm (Nikkor).
FF or DOF?
Also, I'm hearing various things about Nikon-Canon lens compatibility. Some say that you can interchange and mix/match without any issues. However, I've also heard that there are issues with the mount so you have to use an adaptor thus messing up focus and focal length. Which is it? Because I would love a Canon body with a nikkor lens but only if it works well.

I have photography experience: I took a class last year and learned the specs and I've been told that I have a "good perspective", but I don't know if I could handle a pro camera, but I also don't want to be held back by an amateur camera especially when I advance to higher levels.

SO, main questions:
Entry level, intermediate, or pro?
Lenses: ef or ef-s and can nikkor be mounted onto canon with ease?
OH: and should I buy used or new? Used would mean I could buy an intermediate or pro, new would mean I could get a warranty on an entry level. Is it worth it to buy new? I don't really have a problem with losing/breaking things.
