Are nikkor lenses durable? I accidentally hit it softly to the car door, then when I autofocus sometimes i hear it ticking about 3 times or more before it focuses but sometimes it doesn't tick anymore. Is there a problem whit my lens?

Durable? No camera equipment is durable. Sometimes even the slightest bump can break an internal part… Sounds like the gears have a problem. It's off to Nikon to be repaired. However, the repair may be just as much as a new 50 so get an estimate first. Then be more careful.

Cameras and lenses are sensitive instruments. You have to treat them with car

Banging your lens and camera into the door of your card (no matter how "softly" has damaged the lens (that is what the ticking is all about).

All you can do is have the lens repaired and protect your gear from any further damage

No camera lens or body is truly durable. You have no idea how many small parts a DSLR body and lens are made up of.

Hitting a lens against a car door will break it if its hit in a bad spot. If you hear clicking that wasn't there to begin with then obviously you have a problem that needs to be fixed. Don't complain when you find that the repairs aren't covered under warranty.

When lenses were mostly made of metal, yes, they were durable. With today's plastic, not so much.
