How to send a message to S about a Nikon 10-30mm lens?

Does anybody know how to contact a user on YA?
"S" posted this question about a Nikkor lens with errors:

Since it went into voting I can't add anything to my answer, but it looks like there's a replacement lens available for £50 here:

How can I let S know?

Lenses for dog photography?

This is something I've been curious about for a while.

Since I own, foster, and work with a lot of dogs, they are my main photography subject. The only lens I have at the moment is my Nikkor 18-200mm 3.5-5.6 VR. Pictures of my dogs are taken with the dog leashed, at the long end of my zoom(for nice bokeh) and then the leash is edited out later. I shoot in parks or nice wildlife areas working with natural light, not in a studio.

So I'm curious, to those of you with experience photographing dogs, what kind of lens do you prefer? Zoom lens, or prime? And why do you prefer it? Would a prime lens be something I should look into for photographing dogs?

Added (1). Matt - the reason I shoot on leash is because often times the dogs I photograph are very active Border Collies. When I'm doing a shoot of multiple dogs that just need some generic, pretty photos done(for listing on the website of the rescue) it is much easier to leash the dog and then edit out the leashes in processing.

Why is it that you prefer zoom over prime?

Best zoom lense for Nikon D-90 for capturing the milky way?

I have a Nikon D-90 and I use a Tamron AF 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC lense. I shoot a lot of action sports shots (hockey) but I want to shoot the milky way and I was considering getting a longer zoom lense however I don't know what to get.plus budget wise the ones I liked are out of reach. What do you recommend. It seems everything I read suggests an aperture of 2.8. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My current lense is almost 5 years old and I've probably shot over 50, 000 pictures of more with it so not sure how long it's going to last. Mine is an older model and the filter size is 72mm.

Prime vs Telephoto, suggestions?

I currently have the Nikon 18-105 kit lens, and am considering purchasing a second lens. I'm torn between the Nikon 35mm f1.8 and the Sigma 70-300 macro/telephoto lens. Any suggestions?

Here are the links:

Sigma 70-300

Added (1). I apologize, I mistakenly stated I was interested in the 35mm, when I meant to say the 50mm. The links provided are accurate. Sorry, and thanks.

Nikkor 10-30mm lens displaying lens error?

I've got a Nikon 1 J1 camera which I've had for about a year now. It came in a starter kit with a 10-30mm Nikkor lens-which has worked fine until now.

I'm no camera buff-just wanted a better than average camera for some good holiday shots, so I'm as dumb as dumb can get in the camera world other than taking a few good shots here and there.

Whilst on my last holiday it started displaying "lens error-contact a nikon authorised service centre" whenever it was switched on. I've managed to narrow this down to when the zoom on the lens is set at around 14. I can switch the camera on using the zoom, turning it to max zoom, and when I zoom out and it hits 14 the error message comes up. Until this point I can capture photos but once the error message comes up I have to switch off and on again.

I've tried wiping the little connector blobs between the camera and lens which hasn't helped.

I've tried wiggling the zoom when extended as advised by another website but still nothing.

Average quote for it to just be looked at is £90 --!

Also I no longer have my receipt for it so don't know if Nikon will help yet.

Ay sensible advice is welcome-I really need some help on this one.

Why is my camera out of focus after changing focus screens?

I shoot a Canon 350D and use some old Nikkor lenses… I tried to get better results by buying and installing a split-image focus screen and hated it. When I re-installed my original screen and I use Aperture priority and get the focus confirmation beep… The image in the viewfinder is out of focus… The shot is great… But the viewfinder is out of focus… Even when I adjust the diopter setting on the eye piece. Can anyone offer a tip?
