Lens equivalent to nikon 24-70mm lens?

I'm looking to buy a new lens and found the nikon 24-70mm but it is way too expensive. Do you know of any lenses that have around the same zoom range but without the cost attached: D

The Tamron 24-75mm f/2.8 is quite a popular lens.

There's a few with the range but not the quality.http://www.sigmaphoto.com/shop/24-70mm-f28-ex-dg-macro-sigma comes to mind. Make sure you either test or get one under some warranty, there's too many of these that slipped trough quality control.

The Tamron 28-75 is worth a look. On an APS-C sensor the Tamron 17-50 will give you roughly the same equivalent field of view as the 28-75 does on a full frame body too.
