Is my camera broken? - 1
So i was bought a nikon l810 for my birthday on the 31st of january, it was from argos but not sure if i can return it? Not used it much, looked after it then I went to change the batteries and i put in old ones then suddenly the lens came halfway out about to turn on then it suddenly cut off, i put in brand new batteries and every time I turn it on the little on button lights up green for a few seconds, then nothing happens.
I would say that it is broken. Check with Argos if they will replace it. If not, Nikon should.

If the camera has not been damaged, your camera has a one year factory warranty.
Contact Nikon and they will tell you what you need to do to return it for repair.
Make sure you are using really good batteries. Try rechargeable.
You're in the UK, so you can either choose to take advantage of the manufacturer's warranty or you can exercise your Sale Of Goods Act rights with the retailer and request a refund or replacement.
But that kind of fault commonly occurs due to the camera being dropped or misused, so Argos may insist that their technicians examine the camera before they decide whether to offer a refund/replacement.
If Argos try to fob you off to the manufacturer then stand your ground. Under the Sale Of Goods Act your contract is with the retailer, not the manufacturer.
Don't expect anybody to replace a camera that old! It is not a matter of days but months. It is however under warranty and you can have it repaired at no charge except for shipping costs. DON'T take it to the dealer, use your own initiative, pack and ship the camera your self, with name, address, daytime, phone number, camera model and serial number. Include a copy for proof of purchase date. Indicate what the camera is doing as you have done in your question here.
If you are too lazy to do this, expect the dealer to send it in for you and CHARGE YOU!
