How to film from my Nikon but show up on my Macbook Pro?
I want to film a video for my YouTube channel but I want to be able to see what I'm filming, whether the camera is focused or not and whether it's in a good position for the lighting to be good. I want to know if there's some way I can hook it up to my MacBook Pro so that I can see what's filming on my Mac without having to use mirrors to see what's on the camera. Is there a special lead I need to get or is it something I have to do in Final Cut Pro X? Cheers.
Added (1). It's a Nikon D3300 and a Macbook Pro.
It's called, 'Tethering,' consult your manual - or ask Nikon - to see if it's possible.
Film? Then you want a film camera not a digital… Digital cameras record video… No film involved.
Andrew is correct. Most, in fact virtually all, consumer level dslr or smaller cameras can't tether because they need the software and the firmware to "talk" to each other and as of the latest information I have only a handful of dslr cameras can do that and then only with still photos and not video.
I'd follow Andrew's advice and make the contact or consult your owner's manual.
In a word, digicampro, read this article.

Just to see? You need a monitor, not a computer. Just use a flat panel TV. Connect the camera's AV-out to the TV's AV-in. Or you can use HDMI if needed.
